What is NIPT?
NIPT is a non-invasive prenatal screening test that analyses cell-free fetal DNA (cfDNA) in maternal plasma. It has greater sensitivity and specificity compared to traditional serum screening, meaning a higher detection rate and fewer false positive results.
percept NIPT offers routine assessment of all 23 pairs of chromosomes. This genome-wide approach can detect the broadest range of chromosomal conditions when compared to standard NIPT options (that screen for T21, T18, T13 and sex chromosome conditions).
Who can have percept NIPT?
percept NIPT is suitable for all women, regardless of age. We can also provide specialist analysis for:
- twin, triplet^, and IVF/donor pregnancies
- pregnancies with known co-twin demise^
- pregnant women who are an organ donor recipient^
- known carriers of chromosomal rearrangements^ including Robertsonian translocations, reciprocal translocations and inversions.
^Please contact us in advance to discuss testing in these situations.
